Come and see Beeskow - it´s worth it

Stadtmauer_MTZ (4).JPG

Since the 13th century Beeskow has always been a truly well-fortified town. Situated at the trading route from Leipzig to Frankfurt (Oder), it was first safeguarded by a  castle with a central tower and a regular curtain wall.

Since the middle of the 15th century a city wall with  9 towers has protected the town from unwelcome visitors. Parts of these medieval defences can still be found.

However, today guests and visitors to our town (district town of the administrative district Oder-Spree) are always welcome.

Its central position between Berlin in the north-west, the Spreewald in the south, the idyllic Schlaubetal in the east and the holiday resort Scharmützelsee in the west makes it a popular destination.

Due to its interesting history, local culture and  lovely surroundings the town has a lot to offer to all kinds of visitors, whether they want  to relax  or prefer an active holiday.

Many of the events  held in Beeskow’s historic city centre, the castle or St. Mary’s Church remind of the times when the drawbridges of the city gates where pulled up to stop potential invaders from entering the town.
