Wittnesses to history
Talking of Beeskow’s attractions, Beeskow Castle and its tower (Bergfried) are definitely among them. From the top of the latter, at a height of 30 m, those who are not afraid of the climb will be rewarded with a spectacular view over the town and its surroundings.
From up here the almost square-shaped historic city with its curtain wall (reconstructed in 1990) is clearly recognizable. Today the whole complex of Beeskow Castle is a cultural and educational centre, where potters, writers, painters and sculptors find accommodation and inspiration. |

St. Mary’s Church is a parish church and as such one of the oldest in the Mark Brandenburg. It is a four-aisled Gothic hall church and a fine example of the brick style which is typical of northern Germany. In its close vicinity the oldest preserved dwelling of the eastern Mark Brandenburg can be found.
Since 1995 it has been open to visitors and it is regarded as the oldest half-timber house in the eastern Mark Brandenburg. A walk round the city wall gives a good impression of what a medieval city looked like. The SchäfereiErlebniswelt (museum of sheep farming) is well worth a visit for all those who are interested in how sheep farming was done in the old days.
